On February 1, the Gophers were looking for their second Big Ten road win, and coming off a tough loss at Wisconsin, needed a boost from every member of the team. Junior DeAndre Mathieu led the team with 18 points on 70 percent shooting, but the game's decisive play came with just over three minutes left.
Junior Maurice Walker grabbed the rebound off a missed Wildcats layup and got the ball ahead to Mathieu, who passed to Andre Hollins on the left side. Going up for a shot, Hollins instead faked and passed across the court to senior Austin Hollins, who sank a wide-open 3-pointer which stretched the Gopher lead to five points. The game remained a two-possession contest for the duration and Minnesota left Evanston with a 54-48 victory.
