It was difficult to call the starting six teams optimal for both teams. Zenit-Kazan has been giving its reserve the opportunity to gain playing practice for the third match in a row. In the Nova camp, many players were unable to enter the court for medical reasons. This did not prevent an interesting game from starting from the first minutes of the match. First, the Volga ran ahead – 8:5. Kazan, thanks to two effective blocks and an ace by Andrey Surmachevsky, caught up with the opponent – 8:8. The guests continued to score points thanks to the superiority of their block – 14:11. Two aces of Savely Pozdnyakov returned the hosts to the fight – 14:14. An equal fight in the middle of the game – 17:17, ended with a more convincing ending for Zenit – 22:18. The guests brought this gap to victory in the set – 25:20.
In the second game, the guests took the debut. A powerful serve and a confident block allowed Kazan to immediately run ahead – 6:2. With the score 10:2, Oleg Sogrin made a double substitution. Arshdeep Dosange and Vitaly Papazov appeared on the site. This did not make any big changes to the game. Zenit gained momentum and it was already impossible to stop it. Despite the occasional outbursts of the Volga, the guests confidently maintained their advantage until the end of the set – 25:15.
In the third game, Nova made every effort not to allow the guests to create a gap for themselves. We managed to hold out almost until the middle of the game – 10:10. After Kazan took the lead at 14:12, Arshdip Dosange and Vitaly Papazov reappeared on the court as part of Nova. The Volga team failed to catch up with their opponent, but they also did not significantly increase the gap – 18:21. However, in the end the guests were impeccable and convincingly won the set – 25:18 and the match – 3:0.
