Dynamo started the match with Marko Ivovich's aggressive serve, which immediately managed to make two breaks, and later the whole game showed an off-scale percentage of attacks (72%). Denis Biryukov and Denis Schenkel were infallible in attack, but the "Torch" in response knocked out the reception, and over and over again caught up with rivals. Sosnovobortsy regained the advantage with successful blocks. In the end, Konstantin Tyushkevich threw straight at Stanislav Dinakin, and Biryukov finished the game with a beautiful pipe – 25:23.
The beginning of the second, it seemed, should also have been in favor of the hosts – Fakel personally handed them the initiative with three consecutive errors by Dinakin in attack, Biryukov got another break (6:2). It turned out that he was teasing and luring – two sets of serves performed by Mikhail Vyshnikov and Vasily Kapranov in the middle of the set turned the course of the game upside down. The guests raced to victory, forgetting about the brakes – Korney Enns and Dinakin were good in attack, but the Novourengoy block was head and shoulders above all (6 points per game).
After a short equal start to the third set, the "Torch" again began to terrorize the Sosnovoborsky reception, which suffered, cracked and spread at the seams. Enns and Dinakin on serve and in attack, Vitaly Dikarev on the block – unequivocal well done, and Fakel was already preparing to pocket the victory in the game, and with it the most important tournament point.
But Dynamo also had their own plans for this match. To begin with, a couple of aerial pipes were realized by the light forward Schenkel, then Ivovich applied himself to the ball on the serve, forcing Dinakin to capitulate in the reception (18:20). And then the captain's solo from Biryukov sounded: on serve, pipes and in defense together with Shishkin. On the captain's serve, Schenkel closed Enns with a single block twice in a row. 13:17 transformed into 22:21, and the teams selflessly plunged into the abyss of the game on balance. The hosts emerged victorious: Biryukov encored another pipe, Melnikov made a mistake in the attack, and Fannur Kayumov upset Enns again with a block – 26:24.
In the fourth set, the tension spilled out beyond reason: equal play, exchange of shots and breaks, video review after video review. The teams dispensed with yellow cards, but the nerves of sympathizers on both sides were severely tested. Somehow, from the beginning of the game, it was clear that there would be another game in the balance here, and so it turned out. Shishkin and Ivovich worked wonders in defense, Biryukov scored his miracle balls, and Schenkel earned a matchball for Kapranov (24:23). The New Urengoyans won back, but no matter how they searched, they could not find breaks. Schenkel served, picked up the ball himself in defense, and Biryukov earned a winning break point by picking the ball on the hands of a triple block – 27:25 and 3:1.
