Zenit had collected only 12 people for the home match by December 13 (without the injured Poletaev and Grebennikov), and Fakel could just exhale after a series of constant losses at the beginning of the season: by Wednesday, only Vlad Babkevich was missing from Roman Ermolov, everyone else was in business, including the one who missed the previous round from- for the illness of Santiago Danani.
It was quite possible to expect that with such prerequisites, the New Urengoy would at least impose a very serious struggle on the nominal favorite, but this forecast, and it was very popular, did not come true from the word at all.

In the first set, Zenit completely dominated the serve – 5 aces with 2 errors (the guests had 0 with 2 errors), practically did not allow losses in attack, and Fakel also very mediocre disposed of its chances after a successful defense, realized only one out of ten completion. The defeat in this situation looked like a logical outcome of the party.
Further, the audience did not see a double-digit difference in the score, but it did not become much easier for the Torch: in the second set, for example, Novy Urengoy looked sad in attack, giving only 27% of the realization after a positive reception (very little!), at Zenit in parallel Kovalev managed to play Kosmin and Zheleznyakov almost perfectly (7 out of 9 balls for two) plus Peter made half as many mistakes. Roman Yepolov went through all four of the players who got into his application during the game, and the closest thing to imposing a fight in earnest was "The torch was in the third game. With the accumulated margin of safety and the confidence with which the hosts acted that evening, it was felt that there would most likely not be a fourth set in this game. It didn't happen.
Of note: it is worth noting Zheleznyakov's 69% in attack after a number of difficult games for him and the 72% positive reception of Semyon Krivitchenko, who, as a result of injuries and a shortened application, was the only libero of St. Petersburg. And he coped with his tasks.
And Viktor Sidelnikov again played a little bit in 4-2, releasing moments of Kobzar as a substitute instead of Zheleznyakov. This is becoming a "feature" of Zenit this season.
