The Belarusian participant in the Russian Open surprisingly beat Zenit St. Petersburg.

It is the club from St. Petersburg that is represented by 22-year-old diagonal Vladislav Babkevich. From 2019 to 2021, he defended the colors of Shakhtar before becoming a legionnaire in Russia. Moreover, the foreign stage of Babkevich's career can be called very successful. After nine matches this season, he led the scorer list for the entire tournament - until he was injured. And in the penultimate match, Zenit updated the club record for the number of successfully completed draws - 41.

Zenit, with the Belarusian in the squad playing the role of leader, was positioned as the favorite of the meeting against Shakhtar. However, the Soligorsk game plan worked successfully, as a result of which the hosts won in four games.

Shakhtar remained in 9th place out of 16 in the tournament table. On Wednesday, February 14, he will play away against Gazprom-Ugra.
