Needing someone to step up, the Gophers found a spark in 6'10" junior forward Maurice Walker.

Walker helped steady the ship with a breakout performance midway through the first half, scoring 10 straight points for the Gophers to stake their lead at 21-15 with less than 10 minutes expired. Walker ended up with a career-high 18 points, helping lead Minnesota past ninth-ranked Wisconsin, 81-68, in the Gophers' biggest statement win of the season.
