USA were pushed to the limit, but found a way to edge the Netherlands in five sets at the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League and advance to 6-6.

Here's the reaction after the game, from the virtual Mixed Zone:

Thijs Ter Horst (The Netherlands): "It was a great battle against a very strong team. Too bad for us that it didn't work out in the end, but I think it was a good step and we can still learn from this night. I think it's important that we keep playing. We know that teams like USA are going to make great points, so you can stay and keep thinking about a great point they made or you can think on the next ball and how to solve it - and this is what we did very well. We kept playing like keeping up the level with them, but unfortunately we didn't win."

Taylor Sander (USA): "It was not an easy game. I think a lot of us were a little bit tired, but I think we responded well, we started to play better. We just started really slow, with no energy - I don't know what the problem was, but then we got a little bit better. And I think that something that's important for us is that we started badly, we had no energy, but we were able to fight back. We weren't playing well, so it's important for us to find ways to win when we are not playing well and we were able to do that. Our goal after we lost the first set was to find something to motivate us and to play hard."
