Rachel Banham, Shayne Mullaney and Carlie Wagner all recorded double-doubles to lead the Gophers to a 105-86 win against Towson. It was the first time multiple Gophers recorded double-doubles in the same game since last March in a game against Ohio State.
Mullaney set new career highs in points (25) and rebounds (13) on her way to her third career double-double, and second of the season. She shot 10-for-23 from the field and 4-for-11 from 3-point range. She came up one assist short of becoming the fifth player in Gopher history to record a triple-double.
Wagner had a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds to earn her first career double-double. Banham had a season-high 10 rebounds in her seventh career double-double.
Joanna Hedstrom set career highs with 14 points, rebounds rebounds and five assists. Her 39 total season points are also a career best. Mikayla Bailey scored 15 points, making this the third game this season in which five Minnesota players have reached double-digit points.
The Gophers made 15 3-pointers in the game, their second-highest total of the season, one shy of the school record. The team has made seven or more 3-point field goals in six of its seven games, and 10 or more 3-pointers in four games.
Towson led for most of the first quarter, but a big 3-pointer by Mullaney with 4 seconds left brought the Gophers within one at the break. Minnesota took the lead not long into the second quarter and fought off a second half comeback attempt to seal the win.
The 100-point performances was Minnesota's first of the season and third under head coach Marlene Stollings. The Gophers have reached 90 points three times this season and nine times under Stollings.
The Gophers will host Memphis on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. Banham will be honored at the game for her school scoring record. Former record-holder Lindsay Whalen will be part of the ceremony.
