Among new worlds
In the bright dawn
Of foreign spheres
Each orb subjected
To micro- and macro-cosmic
Forces
A wanderer roams, free.

Every golden sunset
Washes down to midnights
Spent in the blue haze
Of numbers, glyphs
Exploring arcana, until method begins
Laying clarity upon the dark wash
of fathomless oceans,
And the hot flush of close-held
Starlight pushing life onto planets.

Ovi, roe
Collect, gather, swell,
Gravid among the mechani,
Bursting into light,
Highlighted in the shadowy interplay
Of the eternal push toward knowledge
Seeking always the sweetness
Of mystery quantified, demarcated, scanned,
Made whole.

Lured onward by
Universes yet untasted
Who might swear with certain oath
That science may never be
Merely the pragmatist's search
for God?
