The state of Minnesota will never forget the 2003-04 Gopher women’s basketball team. Led by Lindsay Whalen and Janel McCarville, the Gophers stormed to a 25-9 regular season record and a berth in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
Despite being the seventh seed in the Mideast Regional, the Gophers pulled off three straight upsets, including one over top-seeded Duke, to take home the Regional Championship and advance to the program’s first-ever Final Four.
