Boy George has said prison time was a 'gift' that allowed time to work on himself.


The 54 year old Karma Chameleon singer spent 4 months behind bars in 2009 for the false imprisonment of a prostitute, Auden Carlsen, which he said was a 'disaster' moment of his life. But time behind bars created the opportunity to turn his life around.

Staying sober for 8 years and quitting cigarettes, The Voice UK coach said Buddhism has since become an important aspect of his life. "My appetite for self-destruction and misery is greatly diminished", he said.

Lastly, the 80s icon said, "I’m not interested in being unhappy". Well, good things can come out of the darkest moments afterall!
