In the last 48 hours Russian air force intensified its strikes on towns and rebels positions in the regions of Idelb and Hama. At the same time the Syrian army and its supporting militias started a ground offensive on a few strategic spots held by rebel groups under the banner of the Free Syrian Army as long as other groups labeled as Islamist. The aim is to secure the regime held areas all the way from Damascus till the coastal alawite stronghold. At the same time this increasing Russian areal engagement makes it harder to implement the “no fly zone” wished by the rebels as long as Turkey, and imposes a “no fly zone” over Syrian regime held territories.
