The new cars for the 2014 Formula 1 World Championship are quite strange especially in the front view, due to new technical regulations issued from the FIA that forced the teams to lower the "nose" of their cars for safety reasons. The rules for the 2014 F1 season require a high chassis of 525mm and a low nose tip at 185mm, but the regulations only demand a relatively small nose tip cross-section, and teams will want to minimise the width of this area to improve air flow under the chassis.
So the F1 engineers bypassed this rule adopting strange noses on their respective single-seaters that makes them looking quite, let's say, "ugly". In this video you can watch an overview of the complete list of the 2014 Formula One cars that appeared today* in the preseason test on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit (in order of appearance):
Ferrari F14 T
Red Bull RB10
McLaren MP4-29
Caterham CT05
Force India VJM07
Lotus E22
Mercedes F1 W05
Sauber C33
Toro Rosso STR9
Williams FW36
* At this time is missing only the Marussia MR03 because of a delay in the assembly of the car.
