Two talented cyclists will be jetting off to Mallorca to ride with Team Sky at our winter training camp after winning Jaguar's 2014 Ride Like a Pro competition.
Earlier in the year, Jaguar invited cyclists of all ages and abilities to join group rides from 33 of their dealerships across the United Kingdom, and 32 riders who impressed at those events were invited to the Blyton Park race circuit for a testing day on two wheels, and four.
The Sports Director challenge was the first contest to take place and involved a timed drive in a Jaguar XF Sportbrake around a coned course which demanded controlled aggression as well as excellent car-handling skills.
The second competitive element was the race of truth – a seven-lap, 10-mile time trial around the Lincolnshire circuit with Team Sky’s Head of Performance Operations Rod Ellingworth providing support and encouragement from the car.
While waiting their turns to compete, the entrants were also treated to adrenaline-fuelled laps of the track alongside Jaguar's professional racing drivers in supercharged 5.0 litre Jaguar XJRs, and tours of the Team Sky bus.
Paul Morris - who took part in the Harwoods Group ride-out – claimed first place on aggregate in the men’s event, with Taunton Jaguar entrant Gemma Waterjohns coming out on top in the women’s contest.
