What's considered in some sense the main agenda for South Korea at the Nuclear Security Summit has wrapped up.
For an analysis of the all important sideline meetings held by President Park Geun-hye in Washington... we turn to Professor Kim Eun-mee, Dean of Graduate School of International Studies, Ewha Womans University.
Thanks for coming in today.
Good to be here.
A marathon of talks.
A bilateral summit with the leader of the U.S., a trilateral meeting including Japan, a one on one with Japan, followed by another bilateral summit, this time with China.
How effective in your opinion were these meetings in tightening the noose on North Korea.
Clearly the meetings helped renew Seoul, Washington and Tokyo's dedication to the cause.
Will it serve as a wake up call, motivate more countries to get involved?
Ultimately upping the pressure with stronger measures against the regime?
As for China, it seemed Xi Jinping was treadding very gingerly around key topics.
Did it reflect his reluctance to dive head on when it comes to topics related to North Korea's nukes or THAAD?
- There's no way out for China, the missile defense upgrade for Seoul is an inevitable 3-way discussion topic.
Will there be a change in Beijing's attitude in that respect?
Japan could not leave the landmark agreement on wartime sex slavery alone, with constant backtracking.
Will the latest summit be effective in neutralizing further muddying of the historic deal?
Thank you for your time today Professor Kim.
