The Golden Gophers (19-11) fell 84-74 to Northwestern (17-15) in their first game of the Big Ten Tournament. Minnesota trailed by as much as 10 in the game before cutting the deficit to one point late in the game. But Northwestern held onto the lead to win at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Rachel Banham scored 26 points and became the 11th Division I women’s player to reach 3,000 points in her career. Carlie Wagner scored 18 points. Banham also had eight rebounds and six assists.
