The men's Volleyball Super League season started yesterday. In the first match of the 1st round, Surgut Gazprom-Yugra outplayed Moscow State Technical University on its site — 3:0 (27:25, 25:23, 25:22).

The residents of Surgut served better (5 aces/ 12 errors — 2/11) and accepted, but the Muscovites were more effective on the block (10:7). The most productive player of the match was diagonal Surgutyan Vitaly Papazov, who scored 15 points in three sets. Alexey Ganenko scored seven effective blocks as part of the guests.

For MSTU, this meeting was the first in the elite of Russian volleyball after almost a twenty-year break. The 2001 Russian champion left the strongest division in 2005 and has been playing in the A—League since then.
