The No. 23 University of Minnesota (14-2, 3-1) women's basketball team took No. 12 Maryland (13-2, 4-0) down to the wire Sunday afternoon, but dropped a close contest to the Terrapins, 77-73, in front of a raucous crowd of 5,468 at Williams Arena.
With the Gophers trailing by three points, freshman Carlie Wagner drained a three-pointer with 32 seconds remaining to even the game, 73-73, but Maryland drew a foul with 2.8 seconds left and Brene Moseley hit both of her free throws to put the visitors ahead by two points. Minnesota was forced to foul again with one second remaining and the Terrapins added two more points to close out the contest.
